Hall sensor is a kind of sensor made according to Hall effect. It has very high use value and can realize the functions of conduction, magnetic induction, detection and so on. As a small device with high precision, it has made great contributions to industrial automation technology and other fields. First, let's look at the classification of Hall sensors. Hall sensors are divided into linear Hall sensors and switching Hall sensors.
(1) Linear Hall sensor is composed of Hall element, linear amplifier and emitter follower. It outputs analog quantity.
(2) The switch type Hall sensor consists of a voltage regulator, a Hall element, a differential amplifier, a Schmitt trigger and an output stage, which outputs digital quantities.
Hall sensor is also known as position sensor. Generally, after failure, it is mainly manifested in sensor falling off, Hall integrated circuit failure and lead disconnection. Hall sensor fault detection methods are as follows:
1、 Judging the quality of linear Hall element
1. The quality of linear Hall element by changing the size of magnetic field
Power on the linear Hall element and connect the output terminal to the voltmeter. When the magnet gradually approaches the linear Hall element from far to near, the output voltage of the linear Hall element gradually changes from small to large, which indicates that the linear Hall element is good. If the magnet gradually approaches the linear Hall element from far to near, the output voltage of the linear Hall element remains unchanged, which indicates that the linear Hall element has been damaged.
2. Changing the current of the constant current source of the linear Hall element to judge the quality of the linear Hall element
When the magnet remains stationary (i.e. a fixed magnetic field is added to the linear Hall element), so that the current of the constant current source of the linear Hall element gradually changes from zero to the rated current (the rated current of the linear Hall element cannot be exceeded), the output voltage of the linear Hall element also gradually changes from small to large, which means that the linear Hall element is good, If the constant current of the linear Hall element changes gradually from zero to the rated current, the voltage of the linear Hall element remains unchanged, which indicates that the linear Hall element has been damaged.
2、 Quality measurement of single pole switch type Hall element
The unipolar switching Hall element is powered on for 5V, and the output terminal is connected in series with resistance. When the magnet is far away from the switching Hall element, the output voltage of the switching Hall element is high level (+5v). When the magnet is close to the switching Hall element, the output voltage of the switching Hall element is low level (+0.2v left and right), which indicates that the switching open type Hall element is good. If you do not recognize approaching or leaving the hall switch, and the output level of the hall switch remains unchanged, it indicates that the hall switch has been damaged.
3、 Quality measurement of bipolar latching Hall switching element
When the N pole or S pole of the magnet is close to the hall switch, the output is high level or low level, then remove the hall element, the level remains unchanged, and then use the opposite magnetic pole to obtain the level just opposite. At this time, it indicates that the hall element is good. If the hall element is close to the obtained level and does not latch after the magnet leaves, it indicates that the hall is bad. When the magnet is close to the hall with the opposite polarity, If the level opposite to that obtained by the other polarity close to the hall cannot be obtained, then the hall switch is also bad.
