ROHS test

RoHS is a mandatory standard formulated by EU legislation. Its full name is the directive on restricting the use of certain harmful components in electronic and electrical equipment.

The ROHS certification standard has been officially implemented on July 1, 2006. It is mainly used to standardize the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, so as to avoid harm to human health and protect the environment.

The standard aims to eliminate lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic products, and focuses on the content of cadmium, which shall not exceed 0.01%.

RoHS limit requirements and standards

On January 6, 2016, the Ministry of industry and information technology of the people's Republic of China issued the administrative measures for the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products (hereinafter referred to as the administrative measures), known as the national promotion RoHS. The management measures require that all electronic and electrical products within the scope of application must declare the information of harmful substances, and the products entering the compliance management catalogue must meet the limit requirements.

Limit standard: GB / T 26572-2011 limit requirements for restricted substances in electronic and electrical products

Test method: GB / T 26125-2011 determination of six restricted substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers) in electronic and electrical products

RoHS 2.0 test items (RoHS 10 items):

1. Lead (PB), examples of using this substance: solder, glass, PVC, stabilizer;

2. Cadmium (CD), examples of using the substance: switch, spring, connector, shell, PCB, contact, battery;

3. Mercury (Hg), (mercury) examples of using the substance: temperature controller, sensor, switch and relay, bulb;

4. Hexavalent chromium (Cr6 +), examples of using this substance: metal with corrosive coating;

5. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), examples of using the substance: flame retardant, PCB, connector, plastic shell;

6. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), examples of using this substance: flame retardant, PCB, connector, plastic shell

7. Diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP) is used as plasticizer of PVC, substitute of DBP, plasticizer of cellulose resin, vinyl resin, nitrile rubber and neoprene.

8. Phthalic acid (2-ethylhexyl ester) (DEHP) is mainly used as PVC plasticizer. PVC is used as insulator in electronic and electrical equipment, such as cables and wires. A small amount of DEHP is used for other non polymer applications, such as ceramics of electronic products or electrolyte of capacitors.

9. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is mainly used in PVC parts such as cables, sockets, pipes and shock absorbers in combination with other plasticizers. In addition, it is also used in some non polymers such as paints, adhesives, sealants and printing inks.

10. Toluene butyl phthalate (BBP), colorless and transparent oily liquid. Slightly aromatic, used as plasticizer for PVC, vinyl chloride copolymer, cellulose resin, natural and synthetic rubber.
